No Charges for NRP Officers After Man Suffers Broken Foot During Incident

The SIU says there is no evidence suggesting officers committed a crime after a Niagara Falls man was injured

No charges will be laid against two Niagara Regional Police officers after a man was injured during an incident in Niagara Falls.

On March 9th, police received a call about a man in medical distress who had a knife.

The man barricaded himself inside a house.

Police forced their way into the house after spending about five hours trying to negotiate with the man.

When he was found, he tried to jump across a gap to the roof of a nearby structure and fell, breaking his right foot.

He was taken into custody and hospitalized for treatment and a psychiatric examination.

The Special Investigations Unit says there is no evidence to suggest any wrongdoing by the officers.
