Lane reduction to start on Wednesday
A heads up to drivers in St. Catharines.
Starting Wednesday, the St. Paul Street West bridge will be reduced to one lane.
The bridge will remain open to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
While St. Paul Street will remain open between Pelham Road and Louth Street, a detour will be put in place, including the following roads:
- Pelham Road to Louth Street
- Great Western Street will be temporarily converted to one-way traffic northbound
A temporary traffic signal will be placed on the east and west sides of the bridge to allow for a smooth transition to a single lane of traffic on the bridge.
The Niagara Region says the bridge is scheduled to be replaced next spring.
The detour will remain in place until construction is complete.
