"Shelter Doggie Dates" program sees shelter dogs socialize with fire and bylaw enforcement personnel
The Niagara SPCA and Humane Society is testing a new program to help both dogs and firefighters.
The shelter has teamed up with Port Colborne Fire and Emergency Services for the "Shelter Doggie Dates" program.
Dogs are taken into a fire station, with the goal of helping them learn how to socialize while also relieving stress on emergency services workers.
The program was modeled after a similar service in Winnipeg.
