A 28-year-old Ontario Provincial Police officer who was fatally shot while on duty is being remembered as having ``the biggest heart of gold.''
O-P-P Constable Ed Sanchuk says Grzegorz ``Greg'' Pierzchala had only been an officer with the force for just over a year and had just passed his 10-month probation period.
The officer was shot yesterday while responding to a vehicle in a ditch call near Hagersville and died in hospital.
Sanchuk says the O-P-P is assisting their officers and Pierzchala's family as they deal with the loss.
Two suspects -- a 25-year-old male and a 30-year-old female --have been arrested in connection to the shooting.
