Work-to-Rule Job Action Begins Today for Niagara Teachers

Ontario's public elementary and high school teachers will work-to-rule, starting today.

Officials with the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation both say this shouldn't impact student learning.

Union members will cut back on administrative tasks.

This means Niagara teachers won't be writing comments on report cards and they won't be participating in standardized testing.

Both of the unions say their members are frustrated by the contract negotiations with the province.

Education Minister Stephen Lecce says the government has been reasonable, by cutting back class size increases and mandatory e-learning requirements.
