WestJet Reaches Last Minute Deal with Pilots Union

WestJet planes will be taking to the skies this long weekend after the airline reached a last-minute deal with the Air Line Pilots Association early this morning.

CANADA - WestJet planes will be taking off this Victoria Day long weekend.

The airline reached a last-minute deal with the Air Line Pilots Association early this morning, avoiding the work stoppage that was scheduled to begin at 3:00 a.m. Mountain Time.

The ALPA says union leaders have approved an agreement-in-principle which includes enhanced compensation, better job security and more flexible schedules to allow for better work-life balance. Union members will be voting on the deal in the next couple of days.

The union issued the strike notice on Monday and WestJet grounded 130 planes at airports across the country yesterday in preparation for the possible job action.
