Niagara is forecast to get heavy rainfall this afternoon into tonight
The special weather statement continues for Niagara
Environment Canada says Niagara can expect heavy showers and a risk of a thunderstorm this evening.
About 15 to 25 mm of rainfall is expected before the rain tapers off overnight.
The weather office also says the area will see strong winds up to 70 km/h, leading to possible local power outages.
Low-lying areas may experience flooding.
Meanwhile, Hamilton and Toronto are also under a special weather statement.
The weather office is calling for strong winds in both areas, as well as 10 to 25 mm of rain in Hamilton and 20 mm in Toronto before the showers end in the early morning hours.
