Two Raccoons and Skunk Test Positive for Rabies in St. Catharines

Two raccoons and a skunk have tested positive for rabies in St. Catharines.

The Lincoln County Humane Society says they were found in the Glenridge and Old Glenridge area, just south of Glendale, sometime in late July or early August.

This doesn't mean that all animals in that area are infected but you should still be careful.

You should call the LCHS at 905-682-0767 if you spot any animals stumbling, falling over, appearing lethargic or acting strange overall.

Rabies can be transmitted to humans through the saliva of the infected animal, most commonly through a bite.
