Ten Local Beaches Listed as Unsafe for Swimmers

E.Coli, algae detected at several beaches

If you plan to go swimming, Niagara Region Public Health is advising you to stay away from ten local beaches. 

E.Coli has been found at the following beaches:

  • Bay Beach in Fort Erie
  • Centennial Cedar Bay Beach in Port Colborne
  • Nickel Beach in Port Colborne
  • Sherkston Elco Beach in Port Colborne
  • Sherkston Wyldewood Beach in Port Colborne
  • Lakeside Beach in St. Catharines
  • Sunset Beach in St. Catharines
  • Wainfleet Lake Erie Public Access Beach
  • Long Beach in Wainfleet

Meanwhile, algae has been detected at Waverly Beach in Fort Erie. 

During the summer, Public Health tests the water at local beaches, to make sure it's safe for swimmers.
