Suspended Driver Arrested During R.I.D.E. Campaign

400 vehicles stopped during weekend R.I.D.E. check

One person is facing charges after a weekend R.I.D.E. campaign.

On Saturday, October 21st, officers conducted checks in Thorold and Welland.

Police stopped about 400 cars and asked the drivers if they had consumed any drugs or alcohol before getting behind the wheel.

Ten drivers were given breathalyzer tests, and all of them passed.

Police say one driver who was stopped gave a false name.

Upon further investigation, officers found the 34 year old driver, who is from Welland, had a suspended license and four outstanding warrants.

He was arrested on the outstanding charges, and was also charged with driving under suspension, obstructing a peace officer and breaching probation.
