Year Long Planning Used to Win Spooky Awards

Best Effects winner says it's actually not that expensive

If you're thinking of entering the Spooky Awards next year, this year's first place winner for Best Effects reveals it's not that expensive.

Amy Woodland lives on Campbell Avenue, and tells us they've gathered stuff for frightening scenes over the last two decades.

"A lot of the really cool stuff you see out there is under $20 to make.  I love using landscaping fabric, it's a great tool for Halloween props.  We've probably over 20 years have a few grand into it, but we never buy anything at full price," she says.

She adds after winning last night, planning for next year starts today.  "We plan early in the year for what we're going to put in the yard... collect as we go, build during the summer.  It's a strategic plan for October, it's takes about a month to get it going."

There's a witches' section with bubbling couldron, and the Chippewa cemetary.

First place winner for Peoples' Choice is on Feron Drive, and Judge's Choice is on Twidale Avenue.
