Brock University student wins $5,000 Dobson Entrepreneurial Excellence Prize

A Brock University student has been rewarded for his entrepreneurial skills.

Master of Science in Management student Milad Nourvand has won the $5,000 Dobson Entrepreneurial Excellence Prize, which looks to recognize and assist entrepreneurial excellence among students at the university.

He won the prize for his pitch on CareCanada, an artificial intelligence-powered search engine designed to help patients connect with the appropriate healthcare professionals.

He cofounded the startup with Komeil Mehranfar.

Nourvand participated in Brock LINC's NAVIGATE program, which he says taught him a lot about communicating with clients.

"It’s easy to focus on other tasks and avoid it. However, the program and mentors pushed us to engage with users regularly," he says. "Being part of a community of like-minded individuals who were all committed to talking with users each week helped to normalize and reinforce this essential practice."

The NAVIGATE program will return from May to July, and applications are open until Sunday, April 23rd.
