Mayor Mat Siscoe is demanding a meeting with OHL leaders and the owners of the Niagara IceDogs, after two players were permanently banned from the league

The mayor of St. Catharines is speaking out after the OHL permanently removed two Niagara IceDogs players from the league.

Yesterday, the OHL announced IceDogs captain Landon Cato and goalie Joshua Rozenzweig violated the league's Code of Conduct and Maltreatment, Bullying and Harassment Protection and Prevention Policy.

In a statement, Mayor Mat Siscoe says he has reached out to the league's commissioner, asking for a meeting with OHL leaders to discuss the investigation.

He's also demanding a meeting with the team's owners.

Siscoe says the community has stood by the team for over 15 years, and he supports the actions taken by the league.

"For more than 15 years our community has shown unprecedented support for our hometown hockey team. We have celebrated their victories and stood by them through their struggles. The results of the OHL investigation show that the leadership of the organization and certain players have violated the trust of our community, and immediate action must be taken. "
