St. Catharines Man Facing Charges After Police Find Him Sleeping in Stolen Vehicle

A 31 year old facing charges after police found him asleep in a stolen truck.

Police have laid charges against a St. Catharines man who was found sleeping inside a truck that had been reported stolen.

Around 7:30 yesterday morning, officers were called to the area of Spring Street near Queenston Street, after receiving calls about a suspected impaired driver.

A blue 2008 GMC Sierra pick up truck was found parked at the side of the road, and officers discovered a man who appeared to be sleeping, slumped over the steering wheel.

The man tried to flee when police woke him up, but officers prevented him from driving off.

A taser was used to remove the man from the vehicle, and he was tasered a second time as he tried to resist arrest.

After he was arrested, emergency medical services were called in to assess the man, who appeared to be in a drowsy or impaired state.

He was taken to hospital for further assessment.

Investigators determined the truck was stolen from Niagara-on-the-Lake on September 18th, and drug packaging and paraphernalia was discovered inside the vehicle, as well as a stolen Ontario license plate and a "baggy" containing a substance believed to be cocaine.

Facing charges is 31 year old Jeremy Troy Boyer.

Boyer was released from police custody at a local hospital, and a court date has been set for December 3rd.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 905-688-4111, extension 1024233.
