The South Niagara Chamber of Commerce is expressing concern about the continuing use of the ArriveCAN app.
The group says it's time for the federal government to stop using the app.
In a release, the Chamber says the app is hurting many businesses, causing confusion for visitors, and bringing longer wait times at borders.
"It’s time to move forward, we can’t live in this cloud forever," says Chamber Executive Director Dolores Fabiano. "Our Niagara and Canadian border communities, the hospitality and tourism industry, has been quite devastated due to lengthy and severe pandemic restrictions. We can’t continue like this."
During the pandemic, the app was launched for travelers crossing the border to report their trips and vaccination status and establish quarantine protocol.
The Chamber says while it supports measures to curb further outbreaks of COVID-19, it is urging Members of Parliament to find an alternative.
