Snowbirds Skirting Hotel Quarantine Rule

Snowbirds opt to take limos or cabs across Canada/U.S. border

Snowbirds returning home from sunny U.S. destinations have figured out how to avoid the federal government’s mandatory three day hotel quarantine, and it’s proving to be a boon for Buffalo limo services.

CBC News reporting it talked to three transportation services in Buffalo and one in Vermont near the Quebec border and they say business has exploded in the last month.

The owner of Buffalo Limousine says he’s been taking approximately 50 customers a day across the Canadian border, which represents a 50 percent increase in business.

The three day hotel quarantine requirement is only in place for travelers arriving in Canada by air, anyone who arrives via a land crossing has to quarantine for 14 days at home.

In both cases travelers have to take multiple COVID -19 tests.

Taxi and limo drivers from the U.S. are allowed to enter Canada as long as they are transporting someone.
