Smoke Testing Begins in St. Catharines Sewers

Smoke testing is about to get underway in the north end of St. Catharines.

Crews will release a highly visible but non-toxic smoke into the sewer lines, to simulate the water flow and see where it's going.

Testing begins tomorrow and it will continue into next month.

The smoke will not stain clothing, draperies or furniture. It also has no known effects on humans, plants or animals.

Residents should run water for one to five minutes in each drain, if they want to prevent smoke from entering their home.
