Niagara EMS is reporting six positive cases of COVID-19.

The employees were tested sometime between Saturday October 31st and Monday November 2nd, even though they weren't showing any symptoms of the virus.

They're now self-isolating at home.

Niagara Region Public Health is reaching out to their close contacts and it says there no risk to the public at this time.

Chief Kevin Smith is stressing the importance masks, physical distancing and other public health measures.

"Niagara EMS continues to be at the frontline of the pandemic and we take all available precautions to protect our people and the community we serve. Despite this, with the impact of COVID-19 on our staff, it is a stark reminder that no one person or group is invincible. Now more than ever we need to physically distance, wear a mask if able, wash hands, restrict social gatherings, and if you are sick stay home and get tested."
