Road Repair on Niagara Falls' 2024 Agenda

The mayor also looking at the University, and Exchange

Niagara Falls city council has busy agenda for 2024, and a major part of that is repairing roads.

Mayor Jim Diodati says with inflation and interest rates slowly making the budget easier to work with, they'll looking at fixing about 25kms of roads, a record.

"We live in the absolute worst place for roads, because we use salt... it's constantly freezing, and thawing, freezing and thawing.  That's what ruins roads, little tiny cracks, water gets into them...  and when water freezes, it expands."

Council is also anticipating the University of Niagara Falls, but also finalizing the $15-milion Exchange, or farmer's market.

"It'll be great for people who like to come to a nice, updated, fresh farm market to buy and support local farmers, and local produce, and local farms.  And, at the same time, for the rest of the week, it'll be an arts and culture hub."

The mayor adds the city has also been working hard at getting more affordable housing built.
