Residents Reminded to Prepare Vehicle for Winter

We spoke to Bill Marr of Garrison Automotive, who offers some winter car care tips as the winter weather approaches.

If you haven't prepared your car for winter yet, you might want to do that soon.

Environment Canada is calling for snow squalls in the area over the next few days, which could cause problems for drivers.

Bill Marr of Garrison Automotive tells us the earlier in the season you can get your winter tires on, the better.

"I recommend putting on your winter tires any time after Thanksgiving", he says. "We always get a couple of warmer days in there, but it's better to be pro-active than reactive."

Marr says there are many things you can do to keep your vehicle in good shape during the winter months.

He suggests making sure your tires have good air pressure, your wipers are clear and your headlights are clean.

He also says if you get stranded, you should have a full tank of gas to keep the heater on, a membership to a local auto club, and an emergency kit with a blanket, candles and anti-slip material.
