It was a packed Ridley College to hear progress of GO station construction
There were plenty of questions at a public meeting last week about how traffic will be controlled during the GO station rebuild in St. Catharines.
Director of GO Implementation for Niagara region Matt Robinson tells us the room at Ridley College was filled, as people wondered about the Louth Street environmental assessment, to the St. Paul Street CN rail bridge replacement.
"Residents saw where both speed humps and temporary road closures are proposed to be in place. Do we need more of those speed humps and more of those mitigation measures? Do they need to be in different locations?"
There was an information session, as well as a Q&A. He says it appears people were happy with how the evening went considering the round of applause at the end.
People also wondered about maintaining heritage of the station, and how new bus and Niagara Transit features will look. "There was other questions about parking, and maximizing the parking spaces, and making sure we can minimize any parking that may spill out into the neighbourhood."
He says there were also questions about a new roundabout entering the station at Ridley Road, and how that'll control traffic flow and keep drivers out of Ridley neighbourhood.
