Region Installing Crossover Near School

It's a result of traffic study near new high school in Lincoln

The Niagara Region is taking steps to improve safety of pedestrians near the new West Niagara Secondary School in Lincoln.

The region has been monitoring vehicle and pedestrian traffic since the beginning of the school year, and the opening of the school.

As a result, in October, the region declared it would look into a potential protected pedestrian crossing.

However, in the meantime, a temporary crossover will be installed.

Also, the region will not allow parking on the north and south sides of King Street, in front of the school, in order to deter drivers from stopping on the side of the road to drop off students.

In addition, the region is considering a permanent pedestrian signal or crossover on King Street near the school.
