Today masks become optional with a few exceptions
As of today, you will no longer have to mask up in the mall, the grocery store, the arena or at schools.
The province has made mask wearing a personal choice, weeks after scrapping proof-of-vaccination rules.
Government health officials say COVID-19 indicators are improving making it safe to drop the mandatory masking rules.
But many Ontarians say they'll continue wearing masks as a precaution at work and when they go out.
Masks remain mandatory in health-care settings like hospitals and long-term care homes and on public transit until at least April 27th.
However, officials with the District School Board of Niagara tweeting out a reminder to students who may have travelled out of the country over March Break
The board reminding students and staff under the current federal travel rules, anyone returning from international travel must wear a mask in public spaces, including schools for the first 14 days back in Canada.
As well, the Ontario Dental Association (ODA) says COVID-19 protocols will remain in place at dental offices for now.
The ODA says patients will need to wear a mask before and after treatment, as well as physically distance and answer pre-screening questions.
