The Ontario government has introduced more services for children in the Ontario Autism Program.
Beginning in March, the province will offer core clinical services for children in the program, including applied behvioral analysis, occupational therapy, mental health supports and speech language pathology.
About 600 kids and youth from across the province who are registered with the Ontario Autism Program will be invited to participate in the launch of the core clinical services.
Care coordinators will identify the support needs of participants, resulting in a corresponding Ontario Autism Program funding allocation for families to purchase clinical core services.
Based on their needs, children nine and under could receive up to $65,000 yearly, kids aged 10-14 could receive up to $41,400 a year, and youth from 15-18 could get as much as $31,900 a year.
Families may also be eligible for an additional payment between $5,000 and $20,000, based on their child's age.
