Province Expanding Niagara GO Train Service

The Ontario government is adding 12 more roundtrips per week between Union Station and Niagara Falls

The Ontario government is increasing GO train service between Union Station and Niagara Falls.

Premier Doug Ford made the announcement this morning in St. Catharines, along with Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney and Tourism Minister Neil Lumsden.

Starting tomorrow, there will be two more daily roundtrips and two more weekend roundtrips to the Falls.

As well, GO trains will also resume serice to the St. Catharines VIA station.

"The expansion of GO train service between downtown Toronto and Niagara Falls will not only shorten travel times for everyday commuters but will also help promote tourism and economic growth for the entire Niagara region," said Ford. "Whether it’s building roads or highways, expanding our subways or transit service, our government is building the transportation infrastructure our economy needs to reach its full potential. We’re keeping people and goods moving."

Niagara's tourism industry supports about 23,000 jobs in the region.

Ford says the weekend service will have seasonal bike coaches, allowing passengers a chance to bike along the Niagara River corridor.

The province is also adding more express service between Hamilton, Burlington and Toronto.
