About half of respondents think the country should cut ties with the monarchy

The coronation of King Charles is a couple of weeks away, but a new poll suggests he's not exactly popular with Canadians.

A study from the Angus Reid Institute indicates most Canadians do not want to recognize him as head of state and are opposed to swearing an oath to him.

About 63 percent said while they viewed Queen Elizabeth favourably, they don't feel the same way about him.

About 28 percent said they like him, while two-thirds don't want to see his face on Canadian currency.

Around half of respondents felt the country needs to break ties with the monarchy.
