Walmart store temporarily evacuated after receiving a call about a bomb

A Walmart store in Welland was temporarily evacuated last night after a fake bomb threat was phoned in.

Around 8:43 p.m., police were called to the store at 102 Primeway Drive.

Investigators say an employee received an anonymous call that there was a bomb inside the store, and the store was evacuated.

NRPS Canine Maverick, who is trained in detecting explosives, attended the scene and conducted a sweep.

No explosives were found inside the store, and the evacuation order was lifted around 9:45 p.m.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1023300.
