Please Stay Home: Fort Erie Fire Chief

The chief says travel is still very dangerous due to the winter storm, some roads are closed

A warning from Fort Erie's fire chief that everyone stay off the roads, and is asking there be no unnecessary travel.

Roads crews are out salting the roads, but travel is still very dangerous.

He adds lake effect snow is going to shift north overnight, covering the roads again.

For the time being, the following roads are closed.

1. Point Abino Road south of Erie - Flooding / Debris 2. Thunder Bay - Shirley to Windmill - Flooding 3. Lakeshore Road / Niagara River Parkway - Dominion Road to Queen Street

Environment Canada has a snow squall and wind warning in effect.  Tonight, the region will continue with SW wind gusts up to 90kms at times, making it feel like -14, with total snow accumulation of 10-15cms. 

Environment Canada forecasts another 5 to 10cms of blowing snow for tomorrow, wind gusts topping 70kms, it'll feel like -16.  Overnight, Sunday into Monday, more blowing snow, and the windchill making it feel like -21. 

Monday we'll have flurries and a high of -7.

Due to the weather, the Bills/Steelers game for tomorrow has been re-scheduled for Monday at 4:30, following consultation that included the New York Governor.
