Merrittville Highway campus re-named.

An outdoor ceremony was held today to mark the unveiling of Pathstone Mental Health's newest learning centre.

Stakeholders, donors, staff and community members gathered at the organization's school on Merrittville Highway today to re-open the campus as the Mountainview Centre for Innovative Learning.

Guests got an outdoor look at Pathstone's new play and learning hubs.

The campus got its name from Mountainview Building Group, which donated $1 million to Pathstone to help overhaul the HVAC system, replace lights and fund the development of two classrooms and several outdoor learning and play hubs.

"Today, was about gathering with people who were immensely moved by what happens at this school" says Kim Rossi, Director of Philanthropy & PR at Pathstone. "No longer referred to as the school on Merrittville Highway, it was officially named after a company and organization that are both forward thinking, invested, committed, and filled with passion for the work they do."

The site will play a large role in Pathstone's intensive therapy program.

As part of the program, counsellors and DSBN teachers will work together to create a plan for each student receiving support.

Kids in grades 1 through 8 from across the region can receive the specialized care for an entire school year, to help them gain emotional, social and education skills for when they return to their former school.
