NRP Respond to 85 Crashes Following First Snow Storm of the Year

We had quite the snow storm yesterday. South Niagara saw about 15 to 20 centimetres, while North Niagara got up to 35 centimetres.

According to Media Relations Officer Phil Gavin, Niagara Regional Police responded to a total of 85 collisions between 7:00 a.m. yesterday morning and 11:00 a.m. today.

He says 16 were personal injury collisions, 50 were property damage only and three of them have been classified as a hit-and-run.

Gavin says people often forget how to drive on snowy roads.

You should reduce your speed, drive according to the conditions and increase your breaking distance.

It's also a good idea to be careful around corners and while going up or down hill.
