You could be fined $110

Police in Niagara have kicked off a campaign against obstructed license plates.

The NRP is reminding the public that plates need to be clearly seen in the event of an emergency, in order to identify a specific vehicle.

Police say some drivers use clear or tinted covers on their plates for stylish reasons, which can impact enforcement or tolls.

The six month campaign kicked off on October 1st, and the first phase will focus on educating drivers.

Phase two will start in January, and will focus on enforcement.

Drivers with an obstructed license plate can be fined up to $110.
