NRP Getting Funds to Support Human Trafficking Victims

Funds will be used to get a victim advocate who will work with police

The Niagara Regional Police Service is getting money from the province to help victims of human trafficking.

The force is getting $58,497, which will be used to get a victim advocate to work with officers on investigations.

Officials say this will help victims overcome barriers and hesitancy to work with police.

The advocate will also work with Victim Services Niagara to help survivors access community resources.

Throughout Ontario, the province is investing over $4 million to provide assistance to victims of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, human trafficking and child exploitation.
