Niagara Wineries Honoured by the Province

Two Niagara West wineries win official wine status of Ontario government in contest

The Niagara region once again proven it is the best for wine production.

Two Niagara West vintages have been chosen as the official wines of the Ontario legislature, during the 44th Annual Speaker's Wine Tasting event at Queen's Park.

The government says this happened October 25th in the dining room at Queen's Park, where local wine makers and grape growers witnessed elected officials and staff vote for their favourites.

The 2020 Cabernet, made by King and Victoria Winery in Vineland, was declared the official Red Wine of the Legislature, while the 2021 Chardonnay, made by Watchful Eye Winery in Beamsville, received the White Wine nod.

Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff says this confirms the world class status of local grape growers and wine makers.

The event was hosted by the Speaker of the Ontario Legislature, the Honourable Ted Arnott.
