Constable Wendy Cools-Lartigue charged with Breach of Trust and Attempting to Defraud the Public

A Niagara Regional Police officer has been arrested.

In December, police received reports of a suspicious person trying to get unused pharmaceutical drugs and/or prescription medication from Lincoln residents.

Investigators say a woman went door to door asking residents for unwanted drugs and prescriptions.

Residents believed she was simply posing as a police officer, however police allegations began to surface about one of their own.

The NRPS asked the Ontario Provincial Police to take over the case.

Earlier today, Constable Wendy Cools-Lartigue was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Breach of Trust, contrary to section 122 of the Criminal Code
  • Attempt to Defraud the Public, contrary to section 380 of the Criminal Code

Cools-Lartigue, who has spent 12 years with the force, has been released on bail.

She's due back in court on June 19th.

Police say she was on-duty at the time of the alleged offences.

According to the NRPS, she has been suspended with pay.
