Niagara Regional Police Investigate Niagara Falls Weapon Call

One person taken to hospital for psychiatric care.

One person has been hospitalized after police received a weapons call in Niagara Falls.

Around 12:45 Saturday afternoon, Niagara Regional Police were called to a home on Green Boughs Road near Olden Avenue.

Officers say a person inside the house had a firearm, and refused to leave the home.

Crisis negotiators and the NRPS Emergency Task Unit were called to the scene, and the person surrendered around 7:15 p.m. Saturday night.

Several roads were closed, but have since re-opened.

The person was apprehended under the Mental Health Act, and was transferred to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation and care.

Firearms and ammunition were removed from the home, and no charges have been laid.
