Niagara-on-the-Lake officials would like to send a message to anyone who recently travelled outside the country.

Lord Mayor Betty Disero, Interim CAO Sheldon Randall and the members of Town Council say you should self-isolate for 14 days after returning home to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The World Health Organization says the elderly have a higher risk if they catch the virus.

More than 50-percent of the Niagara-on-the-Lake population fall above the age of 50.

Pharmacies and grocery stores in town remain open at this time, but residents are encouraged to take advantage of drive-thru, delivery or online ordering if possible.

You can also ask a friend or a family member to pick up supplies for you and leave them on your doorstep.

If you need assistance, you can also call a council member.

If you are showing symptoms of COVID-19, you should call the Novel Coronavirus Info-Line at 1-888-505-6074.
