Niagara Health Holding Hepatitis Awareness Event

Community event taking place to raise awareness about hepatitis

Niagara Health is hosting an event to raise awareness about hepatitis.

The event will take place on May 11th at St. Andrew's United Church in Niagara Falls, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

It will include information about services offered by Niagara Health's Hepatitis C Care clinic, as well as information for people living with the disease.

"The rate of those with hepatitis C in Niagara is higher than the provincial average," says Brenda Yeandle, Manager of Clinical Services in Addiction Services and Mental Health at Niagara Health. "Hepatitis C preventable and curable if detected early enough. It is important that we continue to raise awareness around prevention, testing and treatment options."

There will also be a community health and social services fair, with a variety of community organizations represented.

In addition, registered nurses will be on hand to offer private hepatitis C testing at the events.

More information about the Hepatitis C Care Clinic is available here.
