Police say she gained the trust of Philippine immigrants, there could be more victims not just in Niagara, but province-wide
Police are looking for more potential victims of fraud, after the arrest of a woman in Niagara Falls.
It all started in June, when they began investigating a woman of Philippine descent, who would gain the trust of Philippine immigrants and others within the Filipino community.
Police say she offered help with immigration paperwork, work permits and continuing education documents, then charged a fee, but returned forged documents.
On Tuesday they arrested 41-year old Aiza Andres of Niagara Falls, charged with six offences:
- 2 counts of Fraud Under $5000
- 3 counts of Uttering Forged Documents
- 1 count of Fraud Over $5000
She had a bail hearing that day.
Police believe she's done this elsewhere in Ontario, and there could be more victims in Niagara.
