Niagara Falls, Windsor and Cornwall Facing Influx of Migrants

Cities say more needs to be done to help asylum seekers coming to their communities

The mayors of Niagara Falls, Cornwall and Windsor are asking the federal government for help dealing with an influx of asylum seekers.

The migrants crossed into Canada via an unofficial border crossing in Quebec.

Diodati has said the city ihas seen a growing number of migrants since the summer, with many staying in hotels.

He says while the city is willing to help new families, the influx could impact the summer tourist season.

Meanwhile, Cornwall Mayor Justin Towndale is asking Ottawa to pay for more support staff that have been brought on to help those seeking asylum.
