Mayor Jim Diodati says a campaign has been launched to encourage Americans to visit Niagara Falls
It's National Tourism Week, and Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati says he's optimistic about the upcoming tourism season.
A campaign has been launched in order to entice American travelers to visit the city.
Diodati says he expects to see a large jump in American tourists this season, due in large part to the exchange rate.
"Our tourism partners are out marketing that the borders are wide open. We're going to roll out the red carpet. All you need is your passport to get into Canada, and we expect the Americans, especially now with the great opportunity they have with the exchange rate, American dollars are worth so much more now. We think they're going to be ready to come back this season."
He also notes last year, the ArriveCan app discouraged a lot of Americans from visiting, and he's happy the requirement is gone.
