Niagara College to Triple On-Campus Housing

Niagara College plans to add new living spaces for 1,000 students over the next four years

Niagara College has announced plans to expand on-campus housing.

The school says over the next four years, it will triple the amount of living spaces at its campuses in Niagara-on-the-Lake and Welland.

This will provide housing for an additional 1,000 students.

Officials say this will help increase the supply of affordable homes in the communities.

"As more and more students from across Ontario and around the world are drawn to Niagara College, we recognize the need to expand capacity and options for on-campus living," said Niagara College President Sean Kennedy. "Our plans support the key priorities in our Strategic Plan and reflect our enrolment growth and the evolving needs and expectations of our students. We also know that a significant expansion of on-campus housing for our students will help to address the urgent need for affordable housing across Niagara."

The plan also includes renovations and improvements to existing on-campus residences.

At the moment, there are 228 residences at the Welland campus, and 200 at the Niagara-on-the-Lake one.

The college hopes to start the projects next year.

Over 10,000 students from 95 countries attend the school.
