Niagara College students raise $40,000 for Raising the Roof

A class assignment at Niagara College is teaching business students about sales, while also helping the community.

For five weeks, over 300 students participated in Raising the Roof's Toque Campaign, and raised over $40,000.

Students began selling toques in January for their Professional Sales Course.

Over 1,000 toques were sold.

"We are so thrilled with how this project went and the amazing fundraising done by the students," said Shoshana Coodin, Marketing Manager, Raising the Roof. "This year was better than ever, with the students raising nearly $40,000 which is above and beyond what the classes have done before through this partnership."

Professor Monique Finley says the school usually raises about $28,000 a year for the cause.

Funds raised will go towards intiatives to prevent homelessness.

Over the last eight years, Niagara College students have raised over $175,000 for Raising the Roof.
