New COVID Rule Starts for Some Visiting Canada

Passengers from China, Hong Kong and Macau now need a negative test before arrival

Starting today, passengers travelling from China, Hong Kong and Macau will have to provide a negative COVID-19 test result before entering Canada.

This is due to rising cases in China.

Ottawa made the announcement last week, adding the test would need to be done within 48 hours of departure from those countries.

The Chinese government has threatened retaliation, saying some countries are doing this to manipulate COVID-19 measures for political purposes.

Countries, including the United States and several in the E-U, have imposed similar rules.
