New Capacity Limits Now in Effect Across Ontario

Half capacity only for restaurants, retail and a long list of indoor settings

The province has also placed new limits on social gatherings, no more than 10 people together indoors and 25 outdoors.

Bars and restaurants also have to close at 11 p.m., with the exception of take out and delivery service.

The number of people allowed to sit at a table in an eatery is restricted to 10 people, and patrons will be required to remain seated.

Our casinos, sporting venues, concert theatres, theatres, cinemas and bingo halls, also at half capacity, can no longer provide food and drink services.

Also operating at 50 percent capacity as of this morning, hair salons and personal care services, photography studios, tour and guide services and boat clubs.

This comes as cases of COVID surge, fueled by the Omicron variant.

Ontario reported 3,301 new infections yesterday and four additional deaths.

Niagara Public Health recorded 101 new cases yesterday.

Meantime, the mayors of both Ottawa and Montreal have tested positive for the Omicron variant.

Both say they are well and suffering few symptoms.
