Events being held across the region to celebrate National Indigenous People's Day
Across Niagara, several events are taking place today in honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day.
At 11:00 p.m. tonight, Niagara Falls will light up in orange.
In St. Catharines, the day is being acknowledged at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre.
Opening remarks took place at 10:00 a.m. with Justice Overflow Coordinator Phil Davis acting as emcee.
The day will also include an Indigenous Artist Vendor Market and an evening concert, which starts at 5:30.
Tickets for the concert are free, but need to be reserved online.
As well, Brock University will hold its third annual Indigenous Leader Speaker Series tonight from 6:30 until 7:30
The online event, which is free, will honour entrepreneur and consultant Karen MacKenzie.
She will discuss how she includes traditional knowledge of Indigenous ways into the business world.
