Murder Charges Laid After Crash in Grimsby

Suspect accused of intentionally crashing into a vehicle.

A woman from Stoney Creek has been charged with murder after a collision in Grimsby. 

Around 8:40 p.m. on February 26th, police responded to reports of a crash in the area of Ridge Road West and Mountain Road in Grimsby. 

When they arrived, an 82 year old woman was found without vital signs, as well as an injured 79 year old man. 

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. 

The man was transported to an out-of-town hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police say their car was sent sent into a ditch after being intentionally hit by another vehicle. 

The driver of the other vehicle was arrested at the scene by members of the Homicide Unit. 

Sonya Sekhon, 44, of Stoney Creek has been charged with first degree murder and attempted murder. 

Investigators say the suspect did not know the victims. 

A bail hearing will take place later today.
