MP Baldinelli Asking Feds to Implement Blue Seal Program

The program calls for a national testing standard for doctors and nurses trained in other countries

Niagara Falls MP Tony Baldinelli is once again urging the federal government to implement his party's Blue Seal Certification Program.

The program was proposed by Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, and it calls on the federal government to create a national testing standard to license foreign-trained doctors and nurses.

In the House of Commons today, Baldinelli says the program could help address staffing shortages faced by Niagara Health.

"Implementing a national certification testing standard such as this would mean foreign-trained health professionals would get a chance to take a test, receive an answer, and a certification within 60 days. This would go a long way help the staffing shortages now plaguing Niagara Health."

Earlier this week, the organization said due to staffing shortages, it's cutting overnight service at urgent care centres in Fort Erie and Port Colborne.
