Pearle Hospitality will spend $200-million to transform Toronto Power Generating station in Niagara Falls
A $200-million investment from Pearle Hospitality set to transform the abandoned Toronto Power Generating station in Niagara Falls.
Niagara Parks CEO David Adames says there are a number of goals for the building that was constructed in 1906, and has not been used since 1974.
"Create a new visitor experience to bring new visitors to Niagara Parks, to Niagara, and to Ontario... to see an economic return to Niagara Parks through rent payments similar to our arrangements with Niagara City Cruises, and Niagara Adventure Excursions."
He adds Pearle Hospitality is also known for renovating the Ancaster Old Mill, Cambridge Mill and Elora Mill Hotel and Spa.
Work is expected to be done, with the opening of the new facility over looking the Horseshoe Falls in 2027.
Adames adds it'll feature Niagara Falls' first 5-star boutique hotel, among other features. "Free public viewing areas both indoors and outdoors, including a roof top observation deck... A museum dedicated to the architect of Toronto Power, E.J. Lennox... a public art gallery and theatre."
Niagara Parks says thousands of jobs will be created through construction, but also once the new facility opens.
