Local Seniors Programs to Receive Funding From Province

Province investing in over 250 initiatives, including several in Niagara, to help Ontario's seniors stay active.

Five local programs offering services to seniors will get some money from the provincial government.

The Seniors Community Grant Program will deliver $5 million to over 250 local initiatives to help seniors stay safe, healthy and active in their communities.

"Seniors Community Grants keep Ontario’s seniors fit, active, healthy and connected to their families and friends. Our government is proud to invest in local organizations which are well-positioned to meet the needs of seniors in their community," said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. "Seniors Community Grants provide tremendous enjoyment and personal value to Ontario’s seniors."

Local organizations to receive funds include the Town of Lincoln, the Town of Grimsby, Heartland Forest Nature in Niagara Falls, the Folk Arts Council of St. Catharines, and Faith Welland Outreach.

As well, Ontario is increasing its investment in the program to $6 million for the 2022-23 program cycle.
