Buffalo grocery market shooter sentenced to life without the possibility of parole
The man who killed ten people at a Buffalo supermarket last year has received multiple life sentences on state charges.
In November, nineteen year old Payton Gendron pleaded guilty to 15 charges in connection to the attack.
One of the terrorism charges he pleaded guilty to, domestic act of terrorism motivated by hate, automatically carries a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Today's sentencing started off with victim impact statements from the families of those killed, as well as one of the survivors.
On May 14th, ten people were killed and three others injured after shots were fired inside a Tops Friendly Markets store.
Each person killed was Black.
In addition to the state charges, Gendron has also been indicted on 27 federal counts, including ten counts of hate crimes resulting in death.
If convicted in federal court, he could be sentenced to death.
His next federal court appearance will take place on Thursday.
